This is a useful funnel, solid material and long spout with plenty of room in the upper portion. The filter isn't of much use, but I didn't buy this for the filter, but to pour liquids. I'd recommed using a coffee filter when straining used fryer oil. It will take longer, but the oil will be cleaner.

What is the diameter of the nozzle? Shouldn't this important piece of information be mentioned?

I really like this funnel. The strainer is so helpful; stainless steel is so durable; and the wide top is so much neater. I plan to order another one soon to give to someone.

You cant be surprised with a funnel....it's a funnel. No moving parts. It does what a funnel does...It funnels lol. Well it's very well constructed. It's made solidly. The strainer is designed to filter out larger particles. What I'm working on is setting up a rig that will have 2 funnels. This 1 will catch the big particles, and the second 1 will be lined with a coffee filter. Cutting the top off of a soda bottle will work fine, and the spout even fits in most standard cooking oil containers. You can just use a coffee filter on a single funnel if you like, but it will take longer if your oil is dirty. Enjoy.

Sometimes you just can't win. I've seen the other reviews whining that the included strainer isn't fine enough to catch all debris in leftover frying oil. Well, if Norpro had made the strainer finer, I'm certain we'd see people complaining that the strainer was too fine! This is a well-made funnel; I've had mine for years. Unlike plastic funnels, which never really feel clean after dealing with grease and oil, this one cruises through the dishwasher w/o problems. I have used the strainer for oil, but it is on the coarse side. However, I find this funnel works great with a Melitta #2 coffee filter, which I use for my small coffeemaker. I don't like using cheesecloth as it's a hassle. I'd suggest going to a coffee filter as an alternative. Additionally, I can pour hot oil after frying at a temp that would damage a plastic funnel.
