By J. Davenport (Siler City, NC United States)
I love this cover. No more mess in the microwave, and no more taking the time to cover what I am heating with a napkin or paper towel. I keep the cover in the microwave and just pop it over the food I am heating. The cover cleans very easily, too.

 "Not very pleased" 2009-12-05
By Kathleen Eisel (Pittsburgh, PA USA)
I bought this item, and very shortly( a month or 2) after using it, it started to crack. The cracks got worse with more use. I liked the size and design of the plate cover, but was disappointed with the quality and how fast it started to crack. Others said they used theirs for 2 years or more - maybe I got a defective one.

Concept is great...maybe it works but the Microwave Turntable stops when I add the plate cover. Just wait until I'm asked to review that item! New to me house with older KitchenAid microwave...no built in turntable.

I used to have a microwave plate cover that I used quite a bit. It is no longer around so I ordered the Nordic Ware microwave plate cover. It is great! The hole in the middle lets steam out (along with a few minor splatters). I'm quite pleased with this! Nordic Ware 11-Inch Microwave Plate Cover

So far after a number of months this is the best. I think this unit will last for 2 to 5 years easily. It will fit a 10 inch plate and just barely a 10 1/2 inch plate. If you have 11 or 12 inch plates you will need a larger cover.

"Works great for after school chowing" 2009-12-05
By NC wineglass buyer
This works well, as advertised. The one portion measure is perfect for a generous plate of spaghetti. I frequently set this up to cook spaghetti in 12 min or so, pick up child from bus, and when they get home they enjoy hot pasta. Wonderful if you had toddlers and didnt want to "watch the pot." I knew I used to stress over boiling pans as I had no "backburner" (stove on an island) and had to stand over the boiling pot. All kids will eat pasta, so it's perfect. I love it.

I will add if I am cooking pasta for the whole family I cook it the traditional way, but thats more due to quantity needed more than anything else.

"I'll never over cook pasta again!" 2009-11-27
By T. Wong (USA)
This is a simple, yet fantastic product. I love it when pasta is cooked just right where its not hard or too soft. But most of the time I end up under cooking or over cooking it on the stove. But now I can consistently get pasta the way I want it. The instructions provided are right on. Here's an example of what it takes to make perfect spaghetti for 1:

1. Use the lid to measure the correct amount of spaghetti for one serving

2. Place spaghetti in the fasta pasta and fill in water up to the first line

3. Place it in the microwave (without the lid) and set it for 12 minutes

that's it!

 "My New Best Friend" 2009-11-24
By Apple Pie
Yes, the Fasta Pasta is my new best friend. I absolutely LOVE this kitchen gadget - so much so, that I plan on buying one for each of my family members as a "stocking stuffer" gift!

This gadget couldn't be simpler. Measure out your pasta (a food scale is a great tool is you are measuring out pasta such as maccaroni or bow-ties) according to the nice measurement chart. Fill the water to the serving line, and start the micrwave - Presto! In about 15 minutes, your PERFECT pasta is ready to eat!

This is truly a great tool for the kitchen - it's easy to clean, there is no constant stirring, boil-over, steamy kitchen, or getting another pot dirty. It's truly a pasta-lover's dream.

The size capacity works perfect for my husband and myself. A family of four may not get enough pasta in one batch with the Fasta Pasta.

I love this pasta microwave cooker. It works! I researched a lot because I was skeptical that pasta could be nuked in a microwave but it can. Fasta Pasta had the most positive reviews on the internet so this is the one I came to Amazon to look for. I followed the instructions for timing and amount of water and presto, I had nicely cooked pasta. It makes for an easy, quick dinner after a long day at work. Sometimes I just drain, add butter, olive oil, garlic and parmesian cheese. Add a little salad and it's time to eat dinner! Clean up is a cinch - no pots and pans...

 "Norpro 5 1/2 stainless steel funnel" 2009-11-18
By Stephen R. Schinker (Plymouth, MN USA)
This is a useful funnel, solid material and long spout with plenty of room in the upper portion. The filter isn't of much use, but I didn't buy this for the filter, but to pour liquids. I'd recommed using a coffee filter when straining used fryer oil. It will take longer, but the oil will be cleaner.

"There should be no surprises with the operation of a funnel." 2009-07-23
By Dan (NY)
You cant be surprised with a funnel....it's a funnel. No moving parts. It does what a funnel does...It funnels lol. Well it's very well constructed. It's made solidly. The strainer is designed to filter out larger particles. What I'm working on is setting up a rig that will have 2 funnels. This 1 will catch the big particles, and the second 1 will be lined with a coffee filter. Cutting the top off of a soda bottle will work fine, and the spout even fits in most standard cooking oil containers. You can just use a coffee filter on a single funnel if you like, but it will take longer if your oil is dirty. Enjoy.

 "Great Funnel, Great Buy" 2009-06-25
By J Keistler (Lake Jackson, Texas USA)
Sometimes you just can't win. I've seen the other reviews whining that the included strainer isn't fine enough to catch all debris in leftover frying oil. Well, if Norpro had made the strainer finer, I'm certain we'd see people complaining that the strainer was too fine! This is a well-made funnel; I've had mine for years. Unlike plastic funnels, which never really feel clean after dealing with grease and oil, this one cruises through the dishwasher w/o problems. I have used the strainer for oil, but it is on the coarse side. However, I find this funnel works great with a Melitta #2 coffee filter, which I use for my small coffeemaker. I don't like using cheesecloth as it's a hassle. I'd suggest going to a coffee filter as an alternative. Additionally, I can pour hot oil after frying at a temp that would damage a plastic funnel.

Excellent little s'mores maker. Easy to clean, use, and it makes great s'mores! Bought it for Christmas presents the first time, including our own family, and for others. This time was for a wedding present for a friend who was marrying into 5 young grandchildren. Also got the Smores--Gourmet Treats for Every Occasion cookbook to go with it. The water does get very hot, and will evaporate so you have to check it if you are making a lot. My 9 year old handled all of it himself, but younger I would probably watch. A total favorite last winter especially.

This actually does a great job. My 8 year old niece had no trouble using it. We put some peanutbutter on the graham crackers and it turned out yummy. I sometimes use a marshmellow with a peanutbutter cup instead of the hersheys chocolate. Either way, this product works great and is very portable. My mom wants me to order several more for x-mas gifts for her grandkids in college.

 "Bread Slicer Cuts Corners" 2009-11-04
By Frank DeLustro (Charleston, SC)
This bread slicer serves the purpose for which it was purchased but has several drawbacks. My standard size breadknives do not fit readily across the unit to slice easily through the slots from side to side. Also the front panel has fallen out of its slots during use since it is not held in place very tightly. However it is a decent basic bread slicer for light use in the kitchen.

 "Bread slicer" 2009-10-31
By Nancy E. Jefferson
Not quite as happy with this product as I thought I would be. The main problem with it is that the end piece falls out all the time when you are trying to slice the bread. It is a really good idea, but a bit difficult to manipulate at times. Just not quite as sturdy as I thought it would be. I would not purchase another.

 "Isn't There Anything Better??" 2009-10-28
By E (Elsewhere)
I titled this review such because there HAS to be something better out there! Are we not living in the 21st Century? I read numerous reviews on the seemingly few bread slicers out there because I wanted a quality product at a good price that was easy to use and would help me slice my precious bread machine loaves consistently. What I ended up getting (and what you will get if you order it): A box containing a wooden board with crumb catcher and three plastic pieces with some screws for you to assemble the product. The wooden part of the product is great and the crumb catcher is great but the plastic pieces that screw on are a bit flimsy and do not stay on tight so when you cut the bread (like other reviewers mentioned, get a *long* bread knife) it wobbles a bit and does not always make it easy to get even slices. The plastic end piece on mine says "Our Daily Bread" which is a bit cheesy. The end piece will not stay put either because the sides are a bit wobbly. I disagree with some of the reviewers who think the board itself is too wide. It is a little wider than a bread machine loaf but I think that is a good thing as you wouldn't want a slightly misshapen loaf to not fit inside the slicer at all or worse, risk putting your fingers through a loaf by trying to cram it between the slicer guides.

Still trying to make an informed decision? It *may* help you slice a bit more evenly, but maybe not. I find that sometimes I get a more even slice if I manage to hold the plastic sides just right. Will it save you time? Maybe. It all depends on if the plastic sides will stay on tight.

Bottom line: either have your kid design and make you one in wood shop class (or make one yourself) or just buy a cutting board with a crumb catcher and wing it on the slicing. The third option is to buy this product and put up with it (I guess that's where I'm at since I like the crumb catcher and my patience hasn't ebbed quite enough).

My question is: Why hasn't someone invented a counter top electric slicer that is more or less a scaled down version of the industrial sized slicers you sometimes see at bakeries or in stores overseas? Maybe someone is afraid they will be sued if their child drops their hamster into it (or worse)? We do have Cuisinarts with rotating metal blades... Please, someone hear us frustrated bread makers!!
